This is the topic that has received a lot of attention in recent days, to understand more about this issue. To better understand the issue, our reporter met with Mr. Duong Quyet Thang – the Director of Prosfa Study Abroad Company, a leading expert who has successfully assisted thousands of Vietnamese students in studying abroad in Canada.
Based on the latest GDP statistics, Canada is one of the 8 countries with a strong developing economy. At the same time, the country ranks among the top in the world in terms of quality of life and safety. The Canadian government greatly emphasizes human rights, education, and healthcare and prioritizes laws protecting citizens’ rights. In addition, many scholarship programs and career opportunities are available to international students, making it easier for them to integrate into Canadian society. This is the reason many parents choose to send their children to study in Canada, but why should they consider starting from secondary school?
Self-development and higher opportunities for immigration compared to other countries.
Many renowned scientists and psychologists around the world, such as Dr. Benjamin Spock, Dr. Gigi Luk, Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, and psychologist Erik Erikson, have pointed out that adolescence is a critical period of brain development, as well as emotional management if they have a good environment.

Therefore, the period from 14 to 18 years old is an ideal time to prepare for studying abroad, as it not only helps students develop their critical thinking skills and adapt to independent living but also provides direction for their future career paths. Moreover, Canadian qualifications meet the requirements for admission to any prestigious university in the world. Additionally, the Canadian government allows international students to work up to 20 hours per week or full-time during holidays, and remain in the country for up to 3 years after graduation to search for employment. Furthermore, the government has expanded policies that allow graduates to become legal Canadian citizens if they have worked for over 1 year.
Recently, the Canadian Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser, announced that “Canada aims to welcome 465,000 permanent residents in 2023 and 485,000 in 2024. By 2025, the number will reach 500,000”.
Tuition fee and how to apply for a student visa from senior high school
In the Canadian education system, Junior High School includes grades 7 to 8, while Senior High School covers grades 9 to 12. These are further divided into two categories: public and private schools, with private schools having more flexibility in their curriculum. The tuition fees for high school range from approximately CAD 16,000 to CAD 23,000 per year, which is much lower than in the US, UK, or Australia. Additionally, each school offers an intensive English language program, so visa application requirements do not place a high emphasis on academic performance.
The survey conducted by the Canada Immigration and Refugee Citizenship (IRCC) reveals that the education sector in Ontario and British Columbia currently ranks at the top of the list for studying abroad in Canada. These two provinces are the largest economic zones with greater employment opportunities compared to other provinces. Specifically, this includes the capital city of Ottawa, the metropolitan city of Toronto, and Vancouver.

If a student registers here, they must achieve an academic performance of at least above average. Next, they should choose a suitable public or private school that matches their academic aspirations and financial ability. Afterward, they must apply along with their academic records for consideration. If approved, the school will issue an invitation letter for enrollment and notify the student of tuition fees.
At this point, parents need to prepare a study visa application dossier which includes a passport, academic transcripts, graduation certificate, international English proficiency certificate, extracurricular activity certification (if any), a letter of acceptance, tuition fee notification letter, payment receipt, and a health examination report designated by the Canadian embassy. Additionally, a letter of commitment from the Vietnamese parents and Canadian representative agreeing to act as guardians must be included. The final step is to demonstrate stable monthly family income, a six-month bank statement with a minimum balance of 45,000 CAD, along with a confirmation letter of the balance for tuition and living expenses for at least one year. Students from Grade 11 and above must pass an English reading comprehension test and participate in an online interview with the school’s teacher.
The Reasons Behind Parents’ Decision to Use Study Abroad Consulting Services
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, a parent who is currently processing her child’s enrollment at Prosfa Study Abroad, shares: “Although I am aware of the visa application procedure in Canada, the reality is that there can be many unexpected issues. Moreover, I don’t have enough knowledge and experience to assist my child in obtaining a high chance of visa approval. Furthermore, it can also be time-consuming, not to mention that if the visa application is rejected, the next attempt will only become more difficult.”

Another parent who just received a visa for their child expressed joy: “I didn’t expect the result to come so soon, and my husband and I were surprised when we received a message from Mr. Thang saying that our child had been granted a student visa. I am truly happy about that.”
