UK– On the morning of October 10, 2023, the United Kingdom recently organized the event ‘Exploring Our Emotional Worlds’ in response to the annual World Mental Health Day.
At this event, the charitable organizations The Mix and BBC Radio have collaborated to provide an opportunity for 100 young individuals from 10 non-governmental associations, including university students and rescue workers, to engage directly with Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton. The workshop focuses on sharing emotional issues, building relationships, and advocating for actions to protect and care for mental health while enhancing physical well-being.
Here, the Princess of Wales began her speech by saying: “William and I are continually inspired by the presence of young people like all of you here today, leading this charge and having courageous conversations about mental health. As a generation, you prioritize and discuss your mental well-being more than any generation before you, and we truly admire and applaud that. However, it is important for us to remember the bigger picture as we gather here today.”.

“What are we striving to improve by dedicating our efforts to mental health? We believe that we have made some progress in this regard, as evidenced by all of us being present in this discussion”, she remarked.
In addition, Prince William also shared his personal experiences:“ We have made some progress in that we are all gathered in this room discussing mental health and working to reduce the stigma. However, there is still much more to be done. I believe that concrete actions and tangible steps are necessary for the future of this space. Personally, I prioritize general maintenance and well-being by engaging in daily activities such as walking, spending time in fresh air, and taking breaks from screens. Having a sense of humor and finding joy in the lighter aspects of life are also important to me. Sharing these experiences with my friends and family holds great significance in my life.”

The forum features the presence of British TV doctor Alex George, Dr. Marc Brackett, Director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence (USA), along with renowned host Katie Thistleton and BBC presenter Nadia Jae.
At the ‘Exploring Our Emotional Worlds’ discussion at Factory Works in Birmingham, Kate joined young people and others. Everyone took turns looking at an emotions wheel to describe their feelings, allowing those participating to guess what they were talking about.
The purpose of this activity is to encourage participants to express their emotions while helping members to better understand one another. Each individual will utilize communication, listening, and empathy skills to focus on recognizing their own emotions.

At the same time, Princess Kate Middleton is concerned about the multitude of potential risks from social media, wars, pandemics, climate change, or the pressures of life that can negatively impact mental health. However, she believes that If we have a deep understanding of ourselves, we will be better equipped to face significant external challenges. On the other hand, she also advises being open to sharing with those around you or seeking support from a psychological expert.
Kate and William affirm their commitment to continue advocating and encouraging every individual to care for their mental health and work towards reducing stigma on a global scale even further.

Furthermore, she also hopes that everyone will come together to protect the health of our planet. She shares, “Just as we need to restore, preserve, and care for our planet, we also need to restore and come together to protect our communities, building strong relationships among people. We believe that this starts with all of you, especially the youth who will lead all social activities for everyone. Because when you realize that, we can create a happier world”.
In conclusion, she emphasizes, “Each of us is contributing to a happier and healthier world. If we want to create a just, safe, kind, and equal society, we must find the common interest of the community to collectively develop a bright and peaceful future”.
