Based on the survey data by Knight Frank in the Southeast Asia region in 2021, there were 72,135 individuals in Vietnam with assets exceeding 1 million USD, including 1,234 ultra-high-net-worth individuals owning assets of at least 30 million USD, equivalent to 720 billion VND, surpassing 82% in just 5 years. With this figure, wealthy individuals in Vietnam ranked fourth in the list of US dollar millionaires in Southeast Asia, following Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. It is forecasted that the number of US dollar millionaires in Vietnam will continue to rise to 114,807 by 2026.

This signifies that the Vietnamese economy is slowly undergoing positive changes, and the spreading wealth creation mindset is drawing in young individuals from underprivileged backgrounds. Based on practical evidence, self-made wealthy individuals in Vietnam predominantly fall within the age bracket of 27 to 55. They early on become aware of the desire to attain wealth through difficulties, family responsibilities, an aspiration for conquest, a commitment to society, or a longing to explore the world. Owing to their self-motivation, it propels them to relentlessly make efforts, learn, and refine themselves to achieve a better version.
The Importance of Making Friends with Wealthy Individuals
There are many factors that contribute to the success of wealthy individuals, but most of them place a strong emphasis on their social relationships, particularly when it comes to associating with talented individuals. They understand that if they want to advance in their careers, they need to learn from the experience and knowledge of successful and affluent individuals. As the world-renowned billionaire Warren Buffett once advised young people, “You will become the person you often associate with. Therefore, spending time with people who are better is very important”. Furthermore, associating with wealthy individuals also brings various other benefits, such as expanding your networking reach, building a customer base, creating multiple business opportunities, and boosting your motivation to strive towards your goals, and so on.

To build a strong and stable career, they have weathered numerous challenging and tumultuous days, engaging in ‘battles of wits’ with a variety of societal elements, encountering virtually every type of individual. Even some individuals have developed a habit of being skeptical and cautious when someone approaches them. At the same time, they allocate their time to meaningful activities, avoiding wasting it on others’ trivial, pointless, or negative gossip. Furthermore, basic communication for the wealthy encompasses politeness, confidence, and honesty. They also expect the other party to have a macho personality, keep promises, be enthusiastic, and refrain from exploitation as they are intelligent enough to discern between good and bad individuals. Conversely, if you only prioritize physical appearance while lacking the necessary qualities, no matter how good their initial impression is, the relationship will quickly come to an end.
