In contemporary society, prioritizing personal interests above all else has unintentionally disrupted the ethical equilibrium, leading individuals to gradually diminish their inherent goodness. They are willing to overlook moral principles or rationalize their self-serving motives, occasionally neglecting the significance of those who have aided them. However, it is precisely through enduring unfair and challenging actions that we become aware of the kindness around us.
In reality, everyone desires to receive care, affection, and understanding, yet often, they tend to overlook the emotions of others. Some even belittle the contributions and efforts of others, thinking that these values are unimportant or insignificant compared to the results they have achieved. Therefore, they cannot address the issue wisely and fairly, sometimes even missing out on more opportunities
1. Is it worth enduring losses for others?
Throughout history, heroes, valiant figures, and exceptional individuals have always been praised and renowned by people. Because they know how to preserve moral values through a humble way of life and consistently think of others. Deep within them, there always resides a profound and fervent love for their homeland and humanity. All responsibility rests upon understanding, tolerance, and endurance. The very challenges and hardships have forged an esteemed character that inspires affection, respect, and admiration from everyone.

The renowned philosopher Confucius once said: “Gentlemen never compete”, “Don’t let small matters ruin big things” or “Virtue is the foundation, and patience is the highest virtue”. These sayings imply that if one is an upright person, there is no room for competition or the greed of others. Simultaneously, you should not ruin big things because of a little thing. Among the myriad of virtues, patience stands out as the most noble.
Moreover, our ancestors recognized numerous intangible benefits, which is why they advised their descendants to remember the sayings “One forbearance is worth nine blessings” or “accepting loss is a blessing” to remind oneself to truly understand the value of patience and not let present sacrifices go to waste. It is through these virtues that our future can be filled with abundant happiness and unexpected fortunate outcomes.
Meanwhile, psychologists have demonstrated that intense and uncontrolled bursts of anger, along with a lack of emotional restraint, can lead to the release of harmful hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline, and catecholamines, which can adversely affect the body and the nervous system. These effects can contribute to the development of chronic and difficult-to-recover health conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, respiratory disorders, diabetes, digestive disorders, and insomnia.

So, it can be concluded that enduring hardships, practicing patience, is entirely beneficial and worthwhile. This not only enhances appreciation from others but also ‘ushers in’ numerous future blessings, happiness, and joy.
2. Where does kindness begin and how can alleviate resentment and unfairness?
To attain kindness, we need to be fair and honest in every relationship or decision. Even the law upholds justice and integrity to protect individuals from unfairness. Simultaneously, it involves courtesy, respect, listening to other’s opinions, and avoiding pressure, manipulation, or speaking ill of them. Failing to handle situations skillfully can lead to resentment, grudges, and regrettable consequences. Additionally, always maintain respect and care for those around us. These actions contribute to a noble character and pave the way for kindness.

In addition, if we want to reduce the discomfort caused by others, we should look at and identify the ‘suffering’ or lack that the person is enduring. It is only through empathy that we can transform resentment and unfairness into something more gentle, as those who are insightful understand that everyone has a vulnerable side behind them that deserves compassion.
3. Apply the practice of kindness to everyday life
Many true stories revolve around acts of kindness that touch the hearts of those involved or the viewers because they appreciate noble gestures. Demonstrating kindness when applied to everyday life always holds significant and powerful meaning. Moreover, kindness not only enhances relationships but also fosters trust, love, and unity among strangers.
Take the case of Mr. Pham Ngoc Tan as an example. He has been actively involved in the cabin translation profession for nearly 30 years, earning him the title ‘The Cabin Interpreter King’. He has contributed to thousands of international projects and significant events, supporting businesses and governments in achieving admirable accomplishments. Furthermore, he is a distinguished consulting expert and corporate management trainer, helping numerous entrepreneurs successfully operate businesses in Vietnam and around the world.

Despite being busy and under pressure with multiple roles in his career, he always takes the time to care for those in difficult situations. Especially, for young and inexperienced colleagues, he patiently guides and quietly supports them in developing their full potential.
According to Architect Tran Le Dung, the Managing Director of Phuong Nam Supervision and Design Co., Ltd, one of his business partners commented: “I admire Mr. Tan for his humble character and courage. Besides his competence, he also has excellent endurance. I feel fortunate to have a kind-hearted friend like him.
Representing PLG Translation, they mentioned: “Mr. Tan is very enthusiastic, and sometimes when he sees clients facing difficulties, he willingly takes the initiative to provide free assistance.”
During the interview, he shared: “In life, no one is actually dumber or smarter than anyone else; it’s just a matter of what one ‘knows’. When we have enough knowledge, we become more accepting and empathetic toward others. “Even during times of criticism and humiliation, these situations can serve as valuable opportunities to cultivate inner patience and assess the level of kindness within us. From there, we can observe and evaluate that the person who knows how to endure losses is truly kind.
